I said it before and ill say it again. This team will never win anything. No bottle. Terrible year for Mattie apart from over the top positivity he has not brought anything. Some crazy decisions all year. Bring back Terry.

It's not hard to digest that second half display!!!! It's a rudderless ship in Cavan Football at the moment.. I didn't expect to be sitting at half time with 6 points up!!!! We have a serious discipline, attitude problem with this team. You could name and shame players - management from that exit out of the championship there today. We have a missed opportunity with these players!! Expectation that never delivered..... I fear for Cavan Football going forward. We wont survive Div. 2 League Football... We will definitely loose 4 to 6 players of this Panel going forward.... Cavan Co. Board would want to sit back and take a serious look at the structures in place for the next 5 years.. Do you select a Manager's Job for the sake of just filling in a position to keep the thing plodding along....

Reality is, we are currently in a bad place at Senior Co. Football.....

Just home and totally disappointed.
Shocking second half performance. No bottle or fight in that team and no help from the sideline.
Going backwards at full steam.

What a joke from the ref in the 2nd half today. He gave tipp everything. How are we suppose to win all Ireland's when every ref in the country is against us.

How many of this team would make the last Cavan team who won the all Ireland?/ we have all Ireland's in our blood why cant we reproduce this form and pedigree?

We never get easy draws either, look at Monaghan they got a handy draw, I think the system is rigged against us. I think there are hot balls in the pot and its also done on the radio so none can see what is really happeneing.

C. O'Reilly at last an out and out attacking forward he scored two points said a poster how many did Mossy Corr score ??
In reply to another post regarding the CHB playing at club level and in County Championship level there is no comparison.
As for Mattie I will not judge him until this time next year when he will have his own team even if they are this lot which I doubt very much.

Cavan County Board have serious questions to ask and answer. It is us in clubs who pay for this management. Time for a performance review where a county team is costing what this team cost this year. Someone has to be answerable. if we persist with this we will squander all that has been worked so hard for, these players on the panel will follow the disillusioned, diminished players who have already left. The numbers gone at this stage are far too many and too significant for the county board to ignore. I despair.

Were we watching the same match the referee had a good game even gave Cavan a free out after Mr Duffy gave Tipp a line ball it's called balancing
the books.
Cavan were beaten by a better team and accept it.
I questioned the starting fifteen and I feel I have been vindicated.
I know the buck stops at the manager but could someone tell is it he that selects the team or is it a collective decision????

Cavan only won two games all year and one being against an awful Offaly team. They also failed to win a single match at home apart from Tyrone in the McKenna cup. Thats not acceptable. Does he deserve another year?

There is no question about him staying he has to get a chance at least next year we can point the finger firmly at him because the panel he will have will be his I hope. There are other questions I would like to ask but cannot.

Does everyone else assume that foxes_denn is joking with his last post. The further it went on, the funnier it got.

I would like to know what was said to the team at half time. They came out like school boys in the second half

A very disappointing year and I will still say an unsettled team selection with players playing out of position etc. is the root cause to our problem.

C o reilly is an attacking forward , and is a Glimar of hope, but Our style of play is terrible , if Mc manus was in there he would do no better ,, the slow moving the ball into our forwards letting teams time to get there defence set up,letting tipp win there own kick outs , leavening Mc kiernan isolated with 2 or 3 tipp players around him and kicking it straight too him doesn't work , letting teams come deep to our backs before tackling (zone defence)doesn't work either , time for a change . And Cavan club football is in a terrible state at the minute , time cavan refs let lads rough it up again and put a bite of bite back into players

Truly an appalling performance this afternoon in the second half. We are leaderless on the field and clueless on the line. The great mystery of the last seven years is - How did we manage to win 4 Ulster U21's without producing one top class player or even a reasonable forward? We have blown whatever positivity came from that run and the downward spiral begins from today. We will get relagated from Div 2 and every team in Ulster will be praying that they draw us next year. The only bit of hope was the performance of young O'Reilly from Butlersbridge who scored more in the first half than Clerkin did in the previous 10 matches (makes you question the management big time). Dillon looked strong and lively when he came on (far too late - how could he be behind Connolly in the pecking order). Mackey was a lionheart as usual and Matin O'Reilly did ok even though he chickened out of a few 50/50 balls. These two have kept us competitive and punching above our weight for years. McKiernan was okay at midfield as well but Tipp kept three men on him for every kickout and we abandoned him to their mercy. Of course Galligan kept kicking the ball to him when a change of tactic was necessary. Once again no instruction from the line as Mattie stood with his hands in his pocket thinking up superlatives for his after match media interviews!

The striking thing though was that Tipp had 3 or 4 players who were far ahead of anything we had in class and skill . When Moynihan came on - injured and not fully fit - he was a joy to watch and worth the entrance fee alone. We have not produced a player like him since the seventies and early 80's. We cannot, and seem to refuse to, develop big men who can play and be effective. The subs running the line in front of me were bigger than the majority of our players. In that regard Buchanan was genuinely missed when he went off.

So today was a sad day all in all. The emperor paraded after the successful U21's has been exposed as having no clothes. The County Board don't seem to be able or willing to get in the expertise we need on the line. Tellingly, they employed Peter McGrath a few years ago to find a manager when they should have had the foresight to give him the job.

The future is blue alright but for all the wrong reasons.

Your beginning to sound like a broken record. Who's team is this if not Matties?? IMO he is out of his depth and it will be Cavan who will suffer for it.

McKiernan was cleaned out by Kennedy in the second half, I wouldn't say he was okay. Took a few scores but his role at dominating in the middle rarely happens.

Tipperary looked to have superior fitness when it mattered. Some terrible decision making by Cavan.

A very disappointing Cavan performance in that second half. Tipp were six down at half-time and knew if they didn't make an impact in the first ten or fifteen minutes of the second half they were gone and boy did they step up to the plate. There is a serious lack of such guts and bottle in too many if this Cavan panel. As the song goes "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" and when Tipperary put on the pressure in the second half many of the Cavan lads seemed unable or unwilling to up their game. So if that's the true nature of some of these players they have no business putting on a Cavan jersey and should be at home and up in the stand. Not naming names of those who failed to step up and we have to give the new lads coming in a chance but some of the longer established players are lacking bottle when the chips are down. We don't have one serious forward of the calibre of Jason Reilly. The big question is are there any better players out there and willing to put in the effort and sacrifices needed? McGleenon too will have to being given more time even if there are also questions about his abilities too. Lets face it there was no queue to take the Cavan job and after today who would take it on. Managers are not magicians after all. If Cavan are to improve the set up, Clubs and County Board need to get real, sit down and see if the culture of failure and lack of spirit can be turned around. Are clubs willing to do their bit? Doubtful on past track record.

i don't know why anyone is shocked or surprised by this defeat. I said the odds of 11/4 on Tipp were way too generous and yet people on here were saying that we should be "hammering" Tipp, and were likening them to waterford and wicklow etc. They are a good team, better than us as it turned out despite their injuries and absentees(which BTW every team has). they have a panel of players that is well fit to cope. Are we afraid of winning. were we trying to protect a lead. The warning signs were there just before half-time when we started to revert to our lateral and back-passing game after having played some of the best stuff I have seen in a while prior to that. Is it lack of fitness, is it over-training ?. Is it mental ? I mean there was no reason for that catpitulation. Personally I think the training regime must be to blame.
