The untimely passing of Grainne Ellis (nee Gormley) generated unbelievable shock and sorrow in the Arva area and beyond. Originally from Gowna, Grainne was a great supporter of the local football team and attended most matches. She was also a founder of Arva ladies GAA club. Members of both clubs contributed to the Guard of Honour at the removal, which had one of the largest attendances ever seen in Arva.
