Better known as 'Francie', he was a well-respected member of the Belturbet community who saw many changes in the town in which he was born during 1934. Francie was a progressive and generous farmer and gardener who ran his own mushroom growing business, which flourished and employed many local people in the town. During his youth, he played on the Butlersbridge football team that won the county junior championship in 1963. Francie was known as a curious, well read and intelligent man who loved music. He passed away in Cavan General Hospital on July 13 and is survived by his brothers Denis, Eugene, John (Belturbet) and Joe (Sligo), sisters Rosemary (USA), Anna (Guernsey) and Philomena (Dublin).
