Molly McCabe (née Boylan) of Drumcrow, Carrickaboy passed away on Friday, November 18th, 2016, in her 99th year. Molly was a member of the Boylan family from Ardvarney, who are synonymous with gaelic football. Her brother Packie was Man of the Match in the All-Ireland final in 1935, scoring two first-half goals as Cavan defeated Kildare by 3-6 to 2-5. Two years later, he scored the point that wasn't at the end of the classic drawn All-Ireland final against Kerry, with the Kingdom going on to win the replay. Many of the crowd at Croke Park for the drawn encounter believed Boylan's late effort was the winner and the Radio Eireann commentator also awarded the game to Cavan. A pitch invasion ensued and there were celebrations in Cavan until it was discovered that the last-gasp, hand-passed point had been penalised by the referee for a throw ball and a replay had been arranged for the following month.
