Players To Improve The County Panel in 2016?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I have to admit that comment on Keating caught my eye as well. Don't think there's too many defenders in Roscommon ever had nightmares over him but he would be a welcome addition all the same.

Hardtimes,

That post is unfair, Eugene was left to mark 4 Roscommon defenders that day in 2014 in Breffni, any forward would have got p****d off expecting to do that job. The rubbish negative system (which yielded a paltry 0-05) he was playing in was unforgivable, blame the man on the line, not the player.

So we're going into 2016 without a backroom team in place. Nobody to replace Forde and McHale?

Fair enough.

You reap what you sow.

Johnston out "injured", missed that for the last few years.

Lads slightly off topic, but was that a strong Cavan U21 team that beat Meath today? Or how would ye rate them?

Congratulations on a winning start today, interesting looking line up.
Ned, I wasn't harsh on Keating at all, in fact I'm a fan and he would be a welcome addition as I said because I don't think there's much better in the county. But he's still the unfinished article and he's getting a bit long in the tooth to have the tag of a work in progress. To say he roasted every defender he has played was what I found crazy. I brought up Roscommon not because of that match but because they in general are a team I cannot remember him every playing that well against. On the day you mention I'd actually have him down as one of our better players because he actually tried.

Best of luck to the Cavan team in 2016. Hopefully a good run in the McKenna cup, maintain division 2 and a good run in the championship. I was looking forward to the McKenna cup and had the pass bought for me but gave it away yesterday as I'm not going to attend with the high profiler back on the panel. I don't begrudge Cavan at all and really hope we can build on the achievements of the last few years. I'll still attend minor and under 21 and might get to a few ladies games. Personally I don't want to see the high profiler in our jersey and have made the personal choice of not attending the games. There are other regular supporters who id see at a lot of away matches who are doing the same. Anyway good to see we laid a great marker down yesterday, its not too often any Cavan outfit came out of Crossmaglen with a result so well done lads!!!

Cavan97 the high profiler is injured and if his previous form is anything to go by he will miss more games than he plays. I wouldn't let him put me off supporting Cavan but I can see where you are coming from.

the high profiler has been the best forward in Cavan over the last few years - he was injured for the Club Championship this year, but still looked head and high heels above any forward in the County - Cavan need him badly.

Keating is a serious help to the cause in 2016!

The biggest oxymoron statement on hoganstand ever. Laughable. Enda Hession was the best forward this year by a mile followed by the likes of Stephen Smith and Joe Dillon.

It sounds like someone must have being running a fanpage on facebook to a certain player. The player in question is a 32 year old injury prone player who took a free on his bad foot against his native county when there was no need to. A player who wanted his club to pay for him to leave. Who behaved despicabley against his own club official when took off in a champ game in front of the terrace.

He's the age when most people retire from inter county football but he's making a comeback. Laughable.

The Manager that dropped Johnston never got another inter county team . The assistant at the time didn't show much backbone either. Johnston is still the best scoring forward from play in the County . So even at 32 it doesn't say much for the rest of the wannabe county forwards

He wasn't dropped because of his footballing ability. Ask players who were part of the panel at that time.

The golf course had more pull tham the training pitch too.

The bottom line is he is back. Can't be easy for him either can it? Time the supporters drew a line under it.
