Lads it was a great final. Very entertaining.

Surely Ciaran Brady or Johnny McCabe deserved Man of The Match.
They were outstanding.

Ballyhaise were very poor in the second half.
Stephen Smith only got Man of The Match for what he scored. Very lame i thought.

Where in the name of god did you get the idea the man of the match is the top scorer, such nonsense the man of the match should go to the player that was the best overall player and that means from the goalkeeper to the full forward from either team. Thankfully you did not get the task to pick the MOTM

Hopefully Ballyhaise go on and do well in Ulster now. A solid enough team with good forwards in Tierney, Stephen Smith and Padraigh Moore.They play the Monaghan champions in breffni 1st of November.

Sean you've taken me out of context. Of course it should go to best player. I said it goes to top scorer regardless of how good or bad they are. Last years senior final an example.

Can't believe people saying Stephen Smith shouldn't have got MOM, he's as much entitled to it as anyone else.He was a constant thorn in the Arva defence,probably fielded the best ball of the day under pressure from 2 Arva backs and kept the scoreboard ticking over for the eventual winners with 1-2 from play and 0-4 from frees including his last free a massive pressure kick from about 40 yards.If you were to go by the Sunday Game format on the Arva side I'd say McCabe,Bouchier and to a lesser extent Brady although he didn't have his normal barnstorming game would have being in the running and on the Ballyhaise side Tierney,McCormack and Duffy ,although the black card probably ruled him out.Anyway it's only opinions and in this case it was the person picking the MOM whose opinion mattered most.

That was a brilliant final and very enjoyable. Played in very good spirit for the most part apart from the odd bit of handbags. I think that Ballyhaise's strong start and little bit of experience just edged it for them. Arva management seemed slow to bring in the sweeper at the start but with the wind they would have been hoping to have the advantage and to move the ball quickly with their young team. Great goal from nothing from Kevin Tierney ended up being the difference in the end.

I hope that Ballyhaise compete in Ulster but I am split in my thinking on these competitions. There is an argument to say that it is better standard football and should bring players on however I think that there is too much football being played by the younger players. Look at some of lads playing in that final - Tierney, Conaty, Brady from Ballyhaise and Brady, Bouchier, McCabe from Arva. All have played a lot of football over the last year or two both county and club and add in U-21 and minor (for some of theme) and college football. This is not sustainable. Would love to see some of our potential future stars being looked after by clubs and the county scene and give these lads a chance of making it in the future.

I am sure that this will be critisized with the old "if you're good enough you're old enough" garbage but thats my opinion anyway...

Valid point. That's why I think it's important that we scrap the u21 grade entirely. In addition, abolish the pre-season inter county competitions like the McKenna cup.

The GPA's recent proposals are very good, worth a look.
