Cavan v Kildare

Cavanblueman..... Itis unusual that the two top teams have so few if any on our starting 15 but the thrill and excitement of playing county football is gone with some players decideing its not worth the bother... If u have an outside manager at your club makeing huge demands on yuor time to justify his pay and then have to head into county training for more of the same when the whole thing is prob costing u money..,,a person can only take so much... When the fun and enjoyment goes out of anything then you quit it...simple..!! As for ur point on junior players...the 2Reillys and Ford were playing junior club football the last time Cavan won an Ulster title...!! The old saying .." If ur good enough......." ...???

Mowbar & Sean66 - Point taken, however, it was merely an observation - if you look at the current club set up, you have Division 2 teams playing Senior Championship and Division 1 teams playing intermediate, makes no sense at all, they need to revert back to the old format, if a team is division 1, you play senior championship etc.
Sean66 - Forde and the Reillys were exceptional footballers, but compare the 97 team to that of today, and my point about junior/intermediate footballers becomes a little bit clearer. In addition, back in 97, the Senior, Intermediate, & Junior League & Championships were alot more competitive, and there was an abundant of talent. County Players were never wrapped in cotton wool either, they were always available for their clubs.

back then, regardless of your clubs status, you were picked on your ability - now you are picked on your ability to fit into a system

In the last two matches, it looks as if there's no system in place, or if there was, it certainly hasn't worked.
It remains to be seen over the last few league matches, but from what Ive seen already in 2015, the future is certainly not
blue, a new approach is needed, because if there is no improvement soon, we'll be facing an early championship exit.
Even if by some miracle, we get by Monaghan, and reach Ulster, there's not a chance of us beating Tyrone.

You say if you met Hayes .Tinnelly or Tierney on the street you wouldnt recognise them - well thats your problem - the fact is they are top class footballers who should be getting game time with their county. By the way you re doing a great job as PR man for Mossy Corr . It wont be your fault if he doesnt make it !

thats a decent team. if you have Martin Reilly there as well to play half the game and a few of the other panelists to come in (not in the 69th minute) we would be competitive. I believe Keating is the biggest loss to us. And in his absence Tierney would have been an able replacement. now we have neither. I know you are only allowed 25 or 26 on a matchday panel and it must be soul destroying for some of these players who are putting their lives on hold and not being included even in the matchday panel. if they were getting even 15 or 20 minutes here and there it would keep them interested. But mgmt seem to keep picking the same players week-in, week-out. i believe it was right tactic to play K.Clarke on the square but our players out the field couldn't judge the wind and anyway there would have been noone coming in fast enough to support him. the odd time when McDermott did win the ball he was coming back out for support and we were back where we started. Kildare's last goal showed how it should work

Dr Phil : All the Kildare players were over 6ft with power and pace.
If that is the case how come they lost their first 3 games. Westmeath wouldn't be the best team in the country and they beat Kildare in their own backyard.
I would have to agree our passing in general is awful. Galway will be looking forward to playing us.
Terry not panicking yet !!!!

Well the fact Westmeath beat Kildare and Kildare walked all over us one would expect Terry Hyland is a very worried man. The last three games are hard and all of them are trying for promotion so no easy game.

Reference the team by another poster he named players no longer available also Makey is way of match fitness he was dead on his feet after 25 minuets. Cavan are in huge trouble and everyone on this forum knows it.

All the Kildare players are not over 6 foot. Most seemed bigger because of how well conditioned they are.
