I see the Master Fixture Planner is up in the air already.can anyone tell me why the Gaels are not entering a Div3 team this year ? Heard they are playing in the Junior Championship also.can anyone confirm ? they have no div 3 fixture this weekend

Fun thread lads & ladies :)
To throw my 2 cents in, the draw for championships will be made at next months county board meeting, March 9th.
Pending confirmation of numbers for each grade there may be preliminary games. If so, the prelim games will be played end of May as per fixtures plan, so once the champ kicks off there are full rounds played rather than a week lost to even numbers up.

The Gaels have a division 3 ACFL team but are not entering the Breffni league divison 3.

So they have a Div3 team for the league proper but don't have one for the Breffni League ? Is that correct ? If so talk about sticking two fingers up to the Breffni League.other clubs have to field in it and the Gaels don't ?? Strange

Breffni League is a total waste of time - why not start the actual league this Sunday, and continue it on, except for Sundays where Cavan are playing, when the evenings get longer, continue the league and if Cavan play on a Sunday, play an ACFL game on the Wednesday. People will argue player burn out, the reason players are having burn out is because the season lasts too long. If all league & Championship was finished by September, players can rest for Oct to January.

Cavanblueman...that would be the logical thing to do but instead of looking after their own game and players they are afraid of soccer and rugby taking their players...and the way the Irish team are playing at the World Cup they will start to fear the cricket too I suppose.... I allways heard it said '' look after your own game and the rest will look after it self ''

1st round of Breffni League games yesterday - some postponements due to weather. Alot of teams with only 2/3 subs
at their disposal. Personal opinion, being involved with one of the Div 1 clubs is that the Breffni league has
no benefit at all, its not taken seriously, and most managers will use it to try out players and new tactics.
If the ACFL doesnt start til March, then so be it, get rid of the Breffni league, and let players rest from games
for the months of Jan/Feb.

so you would rather not play football than play for your club in a competitive fixture. ..is that right ?

Rest??? so if the league didn't start till march, you reckon you wouldn't have any training sessions in Jan or Feb? personally i'd far rather play, no matter who else turns up. If these games mean nothing, then go out, kick a bit off ball and enjoy yourself..and use it as an excuse to miss training on the tuesday!!

Anyone know why the club fixtures are scheduled for 3.30 on a Sunday?
Bit off a pain for lads to get back to colleges after, and the Intercounty league finals are on this Sunday...
