You don't have to be 'on twitter'. I wasn't at any games but a quick Google of a club's twitter page will bring up the result. Easier than posting here and waiting (especially for an answer like this which doesn't include any actual results) ;) cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 4135 - 20/07/2020 08:40:43 2284582 Link 0 |
I was at Lacken versus Gowna. A damp squib for a local Derby I thought myself, especially given the return without football for so long. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 282 - 21/07/2020 11:55:31 2284736 Link 0 |
I was at the Killygarry / Kingscourt game. It was a terrific game of football. Killygarry will be kicking themselves for losing it as there were in control for long stretches of the match, but went to sleep a few times and Kingscourt capitalized on these moments. When it came down to the crunch in injury time the Stars held their nerve and won. To much fouling from the Killygarry defense gifted score-able frees to Barry Rielly. sleater (Monaghan) - Posts: 113 - 21/07/2020 12:26:20 2284742 Link 0 |
Bizarre scoreline, do you think either of these sides will have a say in the championship?

No, I would be fairly sure Lacken have missed the boat for a Senior, and that this Gowna group are not ready yet. I think the c'ship will be won by either Castlerahan, Ramor or Crosserlough. More so based on last years evidence rather than following much of what might be different this year. Almost all teams in Senior could beat the above 3 and each other in one off games I thnk. I expect the majority of games in Senior to be very close affairs, and I think these 3 have the deepest panels to come through at the end of those games. I'd probably put Ramor favourites gun to head to pick one out of the 3. With the absence of Mackey and a slightly more attacking approach from Ramor swinging a return final in their favour. Intermediate looks very open this year. I would have a sneaking feeling for Butlersbridge & Killinkere doing something to upset the two worthy favourites of Ballyhaise & Cucuhulainns who would have stonger teams. 4 or 5 in with a shout for Junior with the likes of Givney and Rory Dunne/Mooney back for their teams. I would probably take a chance on Denn there but not with any certainty. With 1/2 possible exceptions in each, all 3 Divisions look like they will have very few games which are a gimmie for the favorites in each game, which should make for 3 good c'ships. It's hard to make predictions with any certainty this year apart from Padraig Faulkner arriving late into the box to bundle in a few important goals for Kingscourt. Keep an eye out for that. I think Castlerahan's time at the top is over. They never had the strongest bench and with 4or5 starters missing this year I don't see them making another final. Ramor, Crosserlough and Gaels are the 3 favorites for me. Gaels will be greatly boosted by the signing of Gearoid McKiernan

Ballyhaise had great result versus culcullains. Two great performances in the 2 league games also. Declan Brennan seems to be putting his stamp on things. They showed great character and fight and play great brand of football . Brennan knows how to win having won champions at all levels in monaghan and sigerson success. He also has a lot of good players back in Ballyhaise. Kevin Tierney, P Moore and David Brady were all out of action last year and they have a few good young players now too. Between them and Ballinagh if we ever get to the business end of things.

Truth to be told Killygarry should have beaten the gaels Saturday evening. The amount of chances they missed in the last 11 minuets was serious. Then again I suppose you take it as it is they won. Crosserlough have a nice tidy disciplined team players awareness excellent running of the ball excellent so it will be interesting going forward. Nice to have some action back again long may everyone keep safe from the Covid-19

Yes, "should have won" is not much good, and unfortunately that has been said all tooo often for this generation of Killygarry. From what I have heard, the Gaels were unimpressive and disjointed, and generally when they are like that to start with, they struggle to correct it. I wouldn't expect much from either side at the business end of the c'ship, if there is one. Happier with my Ramor selection than I was last week too. I don't know how I dont win more bets for myself, with all the good tips I give to others on this platform. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 282 - 04/08/2020 13:52:57 2286335 Link 0 |
with restrictions staying in place, are there many clubs looking into setting up a streaming service at their club grounds. Could be a nice earner for clubs in the years to come. Charge a few euro for home league games, u21, minor games. Or an annual fee for streaming access to all games at that venue? wishfulthinkin (Cavan) - Posts: 1481 - 04/08/2020 20:23:56 2286381 Link 0 |
Yes as I said they did not and the gaels took the points. Ah I don't know several of the main men did not start so the gaels have a good back up going forward. Some said that Kingscourt looked good against Lacken.

They are not allowed to. The County Board are in charge of the games and unless there is something in it for them they wont allow it. A certain club started doing this a few years ago and got slapped on the wrist. There is a county board approved stream available during the current championship cavanstream s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5356 - 05/08/2020 13:25:25 2286456 Link 0 |
