The Irish news are doing this for all Ulster counties. A lean 20 years for Cavan I know, but it is something positive to reflect on at least. My pick would be

J Reilly

M Hannon
R Dunne
P Faulkner

Peter Reilly
Forde
M McKeever

D McCabe
G McKiernan

Mackey
Lyng
Martin Reilly

Larry
G Pierson
J O Reilly

Each gave their all for Cavan and were star men on many big occasions, just too often on losing sides. No quitters either

Madge King has a good team. The second team seems more like a parody

Not Bad.

James Reilly too one dimensional on kick outs but great shot stopper. I'd have Killian Clarke in the FB line ahead of Rory Dunne and McVitty instead of Lyng.

26 Players named only 4 Selected that's not a best 15.
How long did Ray Cullivan or Rory Dunne play I can't recall Gearoid McKiernan playing wing half back

In fairness Rory Dunne deserves to be there. He had 2 bad injuries , so would have played more. He had a great year in 2013, and done a good marking job on Donaghy. Cavan player of the year in 2015 . Picked up a bad knee injury in london, in 2016, which effectively ended his County days.

Did Alan O Meara ever play a full year with the seniors as No 1 keeper? Maybe 1 year but I am not even sure about that. In the last 10 years Galligan is the stand out keeper by a mile.

I'd say 6 or 7 of your players at least have not even played for Cavan in the last 10 years.

There are 15 players on a team, you have named 26.

Some of the selections are bizarre - Nicholas Walsh? Cullivan? Brides? and Killian Clarke at FF (played about 2 matches there)

There was a team of the last 20 years in the Irish News, that's what his team is based on.

We are Cavan had a team of the decade.

Though many of the players listed aren't the best of the last 20 years.. Could name a best 15 who have opted of County football in the last decade, been that many

Yeah I thought that was a bizarre choice too, the few times he did play for Cavan he seemed to struggle as well

Yes you may well be right but I think the post mentioned 20 years. Yes I think Clarke would have worked well as a target man instead of being used all over the pitch. I could name many more off course over the 20 years. At the end of the day it's one persons opinion when I posted my list I was not told I was not eligible. Many quality players were lost over that period for sure McEnroe Brady Dillion Enda O'Reilly Smith Madden Buchannon Monaghan McKiernan McKiernan Reilly the list goes on and on.
We saw managers come and go as well as players come and go along with chairmen but the loss of some great potential such a small county cannot afford. We sadly have had some terrible managers that goes without saying but losing quality players was a disaster.

No I was referring to your decision to include O Mara as a potential number 1, I don't think he was ever Cavan's actual number 1, I think he covered for Gilsenan when he was injured but that was about it and like I said he seemed to struggle

Are you naming a Cavan best 15 or a list of the lads you got on with? Some of the seclections, as others have posted, are bizarre to say the least. The likes of O'Meara, Dermot Sheridan, Ray Cullivan or Martin Dunne were lucky if they played in more than ten championship games over the 20 years.

Thats the beauty of freedom of opinion. You will note that the ones you questioned were second options. I am surprised you questioned Ray Cullivan you know if you supported Cavan that he gave his heart and sole to the team less you forget. There are many others that are worthy of a mention I am a not a biased person so I look at every player that wore the jersey.

McKenna cup today enjoy the game.

Seems with sean list, the less you play the more amazing you become. How many ulster champioship matches did some of those lads even play? Many of them less than 5 games I'd say
