Ulster All Stars 2019???

(Oldest Posts First)

Is this a joke? Cavan got to the Final and nobody selected has to be a first!

Ulster champions Donegal dominated at Thursday night's 2019 Irish News Ulster All-Star awards.

Eight Donegal players picked up provincial All-Stars with Michael Murphy named Player of the Year at the awards presentation in Armagh.

The Glenswilly man had another fantastic season, captaining Donegal to another Ulster title.

And seven other Donegal players, including goalkeeper Shaun Patton (St Eunans), Jamie Brennan (Bundoran) and Stephen McMenamin (Red Hughs) were also given All-Stars.

Kilcar duo Ryan McHugh and Paddy McBrearty also picked up awards while Paddy McGrath (Ardara) and Eoghan Ban Gallagher (Killybegs) who both picked up serious injuries towards the end of the All-Ireland campaign, also received Ulster All-Stars.

The awards presentation took place in the Armagh City Hotel.

Armagh's Jarleth Og Burns and Rian O'Neill were the only two players outside of Donegal and Tyrone to receive All-Stars.

The Tyrone All-Stars include Peter Harte, Mattie Donnelly, Cathal McShane, Frank Burns and Ronan McNamee.

But sure when they did get to the final they were no good.
I wasn't surprised none of them got one anyway

I can't think of any Cavan player that was consistent enough over the course of the Ulster championship to get a position..
Can you?

If basing it on Ulster Championship, Tyrone had 1 win against Derry who were in Division 4. They were poor against Donegal in Breffni. Harte was black carded on first half I think..

Mcveety should have been in there.

Maybe they are not based on the Ulster C'ship.

If they are based on the performance of Ulster players in the All Ireland series as a whole, then McVeety and any other Cavan player wouldn't deserve to get in ahead of the lads that got them.

For running up the most blind alleys he should have got a gold medal.
My interpretation of the awards it's how Ulster players played in the championship including the qualifiers and super8s.
Maybe I'm wrong , and someone in the know can confirm either way.
Mc Shane only performed after Tyrone were knocked out of Ulster

I didn't think Peter Harte was that impressive. He was below bar against Kerry in All Ireland Semi. He played well for a while against Cork and Roscommon but nothing majorly impressive.. He's had better seasons.. Discipline was poor too. About 3 black cards?

Irish News while a Ulster paper"is mostly read by readers in the wee 6..thats where most voters would be from

A lad dedicates his life to being a top quality intercounty player, gets there, and has some genius who never got within an asses roar of a county panel on an anonymous forum take cheap shots at him. Brilliant stuff.

The way those Cavan players threw in the towel in the final 2 games this year is reflected in any awards that were given out.
Most of them don't even deserve to wear a Cavan jersey never mind getting picked for an Ulster 15.

I know you got close to a county panel, were dropped and are bitter about it ever since if that helps.

Call it an educated guess. Unless you want to prove me wrong and let us know your identity and we can see just how much better you were or are than Dara? No? Didn't think so...

They were beaten by two teams that are much better than them. Grow up and stop abusing them anonymously.

I've no problem getting beaten by teams that are better than us.
But I've a problem when players throw in the towel after 10 mins
And I've a problem with players trying to get themselves sent off because they don't want to be there when things aren't going right.
Now that's 2 major problems. Did you see those 2 problems even with your blinkers on???
