Replying To The Quiet Man:  "Now you see why I say there is no place for hurling in Cavan same old s****. Should not be all about ticking boxes. Those that are going to be playing for the county are training all ready. It's a total mockery."

Replying To Loughduff Lad:  "There is a place for Hurling in Cavan. We just need a County Board who gives a s***e, and not just pay lip service. There were 4 teams this year (~100 players overall), best in ages and this after a reasonably successful campaign for the county team. The county team finished up in early June and not a single game was organised by the CB until 30 September, basically 4 months later. The championship was then run on the 3G pitch, some under floodlights. Even after the best summer we've had in recent memory, they can't even organise the championships on grass in the summer, and it's a summer sport. There is an appetite for hurling in Cavan, there are over 100 Senior players over 4 teams. This championship didn't finish as it was dragged out and the final was set for mid December for goodness sake. The county team was even back training at the time.

The County Board really need to get itself together and finish the championship off in a timely manner. We still have hurling in the county is spite of them, not because of them. Remember they only set a grand total of 1 game in 2017, this year was a little better, but still. Teams have to organise their own tournaments and look to other leagues in other counties for games as our CB is so incompetent. No league has been organised in ages. They are a GAA county board, not a football one. They need to help the other GAA sports under their remit, not hinder them."

Stop making excuses for god sake how can you blame the county board tell the truth don't you think it's time you people told the truth for a change. Hurling as usual could not be organised because as usual your club were holding up everything because your football Intermediate team were in Ulster.
You have won another county title without pucking a ball so come on tell it as it is.

Hurling has nothing to offer Cavan except costing the County Board financially I expect the usual numbers will turn up for training what is it IT the usual 10 and the 3 or 4 malingerers on the side line that say they are injured. Then come a match miraculously 24 to 28 players rise up from someplace.
Close the door on so called senior hurling and put the efforts into the youth and start from there and progress forward with the new lads that are not tied up with making up numbers.
You know I am right so build from the bottom and let the branches grow if the clubs buy into it.

Replying To d101:  "Sean, just to clear up a few facts for the people who mightn't know you, Mullahoran weren't holding up anything, they played the first round of the SHC the same weekend as the IFC semi final, despite having several dual players, who were involved in championship games for 11 weekends in a row. It wasn't their fault that the SHC didn't start until the last day of September and Mullahoran were willing to play the final at any stage; they were not the team who pulled out.

You say Mullahoran won 'another' title without pucking a ball, despite them having played all the other teams in the championship this year. The only other time over the past 15 years that I can recall a final not being played was 2012, when the final was fixed the evening before the SFC final and was subsequently awarded to Ballymachugh when Mullahoran couldn't feasibly play it.

There is one club who have been building from the bottom for the past 30 years, and it doesn't have an 'F' in its name, i.e. Mullahoran St Joseph's Hurling Club. Other clubs are also doing a lot of underage work over the past decade and hopefully this will bear fruit in the near future for the county team."
