Tomsmith here

For anyone looking for the most direct route to Ballybofey here goes.
Go to Enniskillen Via Belturbet or Legakelly, Newtown butler,
Then take Pettigo Road
Off that take Edereny Rd
In Edereny turn left to Castlederg
In Castlederg take Castlefin Road
In Castlefin trun left for Ballyboefey which is about 10 miles further on
Anyone got abetter Route or shorter Route

Nothing direct about that Tomsmith.
Enniskillen -Pettigo - Laghy .. bypass Donegal Town and straight to Ballybofey.
Less than 2 hour drive from the Imperial

Ah here, they have to be the worst directions ever. A trip through dirt tracks.
Head for Enniskillen, Pettigo, Donegal, Ballybofey OR Omagh, Strabane, Ballybofey - longer but quieter and better road.

That is exactly the correct route, good road all the way to Castlederg. You have seven miles then of a bye road to Castlefinn and then back on the main N15 road to Ballybofey.Just make sure you go all the way into Castlefinn village and don,t turn right at a crossroads just before the village.

I travel up to Donegal and back at least once a week and that's the route i always take. I've done it a million times at this stage. You could even turn left before the bridge at castlefin and go by crossroads. it'll bring you right into the town away from all traffic. it's a bad road though........
no flies on Tomsmith !!!!

Tomsmith here.

While I feel that your route via Petigo is much longer the plus side is that you could take a few minutes and collect some precious water (from Lough Derg ) after you cross the Border at Pettigo . The road would also while much longer have an advantage that one can stop and relax in Barnes Gap or near Lough Mourne .
One way or the other it is a 10am departure from the imperial for us and hopefully the road home will be much shorter

I'd be thinking the road home would probably be much the same distance as the one going..

Sadly you've failed to grasp the meaning of what Tomsmith means when he says "hopefully the road home will be shorter"
Read it again and don't take it literally. The actual real meaning might dawn on you.
