The u21 championship use to be a good competition. This format is silly and hard to take it serious FoolsGold (Cavan) - Posts: 2216 - 03/12/2018 14:28:32 2153186 Link 0 |
Gaels had a panel of 20 odd players, but unfortunately, a few injuries and a number of lads unavailable for work and college reasons due the time of year, so numbers wise, hardly worrying for the Gaels. If I were in the Co Board, I'd be thinking, this is an u20 competition, the next step for these lads is senior, yet the standard in most cases has been terrible. Even more worrying is the the fact that some amalgamations withdrew from the competition because they couldn't field a team. In addition, a Co U20 Division One with only 3 teams in it, what does that say about football in Co Cavan? Perhaps if the Co Board gave the competition the respect it deserved and ran it as a proper competition and at a better time of year, then players and clubs would give it the same respect. cavanblueman (Cavan) - Posts: 441 - 04/12/2018 10:23:54 2153281 Link 0 |
I agree with the most of that. Terrible time of year and the county has done poorly for this age group in recent years and neglected them. PatTheDandy (Cavan) - Posts: 282 - 04/12/2018 12:49:47 2153298 Link 0 |
