New Book

The Gallant John Joe

Cavan's Millenium Man

There is a lot of interest locally and beyond in a new book which is now on sale.

The Gallant John Joe Cavan’s Millennium Man is a biography of the

great John Joe O’Reilly, popularly known as The Gallant John Joe. Cavan people

have heard so much about John Joe in song and story but very few know much

about the man because he went to his eternal reward in 1952 at 34 years of

age. Now thanks to this book his life story and his many achievements will be

recorded for posterity. Written by local man George Cartwright The Gallant

John Joe Cavan’s Millennium Man is laced with lore and anecdotes about great

victories and agonising defeats set in the historical and social history of the

times. This book will be eagerly sought after at home and abroad and should

make an ideal Christmas gift. It is available in all local shops and bookstores.

Cavan Ulster Champions

Cornafean Community and GFC congratulate the Cavan Team Management and players on their fantastic Ulster Championship victory over Donegal last Sunday.  With no supporters allowed at the game the fantastic display by the Cavan players brought joy to Cavan people all over the county and beyond.  Their never say die attitude and hunger to bring back the Anglo Celt Cup to Cavan was a joy to behold and the game will live long in peoples' memories.  Thank you to the players for bringing joy to Cavan peoples' hearts in these difficult times and we look forward to seeing the team run out in Croke Park in two weeks time against the Dubs.
