Kerry’s 2017 All-Ireland MFC-winning goalkeeper Deividas Uosis is apparently set for a switch to the AFL.
Born in Lithuania, the versatile Uosis moved to the Kingdom when he was four. He is as comfortable outfield as between the posts and the high regard in which he is held in Kerry was underlined last month when he started the McGrath Cup clash with Tipperary.
It has been reported in Australia that he will hook up with Brisbane Lions in October, ahead of the 2021 Aussie Rules season. Should the move materialise, he will be the third of Kerry’s recent minor All-Ireland winning crop to relocate Down Under, following in the footsteps of his Dingle clubmate Mark O’Connor and Na Gaeil’s Stefan Okunbor, both of whom have joined Geelong Cats.
Uosis starred at full forward on the PS Chorca Dhuibhne side that won Corn Uí Mhuirí in 2018 and was in goals as the title was successfully defended last year.
